Know your Korean brands : Holika Holika

Published November 1, 2012 by Beauty-full Dreams

And to celebrate this special day, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about the intriguing Holika Holika.

Holika Holika is a young brand created in early 2010 by the famous high-end cosmetic company Emprani (this is why the name “Emprani” is stamped all over the seal of each Holika Holika facial cream). It became an instant hit with teenagers and young women thanks to its numerous and affordable products, great advertising campains and above all a very unique concept. While cute girly products are Etude Houses trademark and “hot pink” and “princessy” have become synonymous with Lioele, Holika Holika (which means “Beauty-holic”) plays the magical card to its fullest. As you can see above, the logo shows a witch flying on her broom among the stars beside the name “Holika Holika” drawn in gothic letters. And the brand’s motto clearly states :

Purple, dark blue, golden and black are often used for the packagings, as well as pentacles, stars and cats. Even more original are the emulsions and toners from the Aqua Splash and Apple Shine Turn-Over lines that truly look like bottle potions.

And the gifts and samples strictly follow the same concept too :

Recent products don’t always display any magical theme but they all shine with creativity, like the Wine Therapy Sleeping Masks sold in mini wine oaks or the Aqua Splash 0°C Ice Mask Sheet that gets cold after your hit the package.

If you want to take a look at all the wonderful products offered by Holika Holika, just go to the official website and let the magic happen 🙂

Holika Holika is also known for its great advertising campains. The brand was endorsed by popular band CNBlue until this year, and then replaced by girl group SISTAR & actor Jung Il Woo from May 2012.

Their most famous CF is arguably the Magic Pole Mascara one :

Which girl wouldn’t like to have her makeup done by a gorgeous Korean man anyway ? ;p

Unfortunately, Holika Holika seems to drift away from the initial magical concept to a more sugary sweet fairytale theme since the end of CNBlue’s endorsement. Anyway, Holika Holika cosmetics are as good as ever : great packagings, great concepts, very good quality and yet very affordable.

So, now the crucial question : where to buy Holika Holika products?

If you live in Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines or Toronto, Holika Holika stores are awaiting you ! If not, you can buy them online from Gmarket, YesStyle, Sasa, Korea Depart, Pretty&Cute and Bonjour HK.

Holika Holika is one of my favorite brands, can you tell ? ^^

    • Of course 🙂 Which one would you like me to review first: Aqua Splash, Praha Blossom, Water March green (for oily skin) or Water March pink (for dry skin)?
