Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base Peach Choux Review

Published February 22, 2013 by Beauty-full Dreams

Welcome to the 2nd part of my Etude House Sweet Recipe reviews ! As promised in my last post, no vampire, ghost or other supernatural being is going to haunt this page today 😉 Instead, let me bring you into the sweet and mellow world of the Baby Choux Peach Choux base ^^

As you can see, the box and jar designs are the same as the Mint Choux base, with only one small difference : if you look carefully at the box, the cream puff on the upper left corner has a peach-colored filling while the Mint Choux one obviously has a green cream 🙂

The texture is identical to the Mint Choux base, a soft cream yet not truly “fluffy” that’s really pleasant to apply on your face. Trust me, even if it would be more hygienic to use a spatula to scoop the product, you won’t regret dipping your fingers into this creamy base and spreading it on your skin. It kinda feels like playing with frosting ^_^ Unlike the Mint Choux, you can already smell the yummy fresh peach fragrance of the base inside the jar. The scent remains for quite a while once applied but becomes a bit more sugary.

This time I can show you the Peach Choux base on my own hand, hooray !

Like the Mint Choux, the base takes a powdery texture when you spread it on your skin. Fortunately, even if it’s a bit light, it doesn’t take the same ghastly color 🙂

Instead, it blends nicely and gives you a lovely healthy glow without being as obvious as shimmery or pearlish bases and highlighters. I tried it with my Holika Holika Petit BB Moisture and Holika Holika Peach Girl BB Cream and it gave good results on my fair skin (NC15 and below). My mum (NW20-NW25) tried it under her Baviphat Naughty Girl 3D Professional Foundation #2 and it looked really nice and subtle 🙂

Sweet Talk :

“This light and fluffy choux cream-like makeup base creates baby choux skin with its moist inside and soft smoothness on the outside”

The Naked Truth :

Just like the Mint version, Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base -Peach Choux- has a nice soft texture but is far from a “fluffy” whipped cream texture. It really gives you a much softer and smoother skin but the “moist inside” is a bit misleading : normal and oily skins can use it without any discomfort, even without moisturizer, but it probably won’t be enough for dry skins. Sensitive skins can use it without the slightest worry though, thanks to its cotton, dandelion, milk proteins and safflower extracts.

So, Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base -Peach Choux- in a nutshell…

Nice Texture ? Yes but still not fluffy

Pleasant smell ? Yes !

Easy to use ? Yes

Comfortable ? Yes, even without moisturizer

Effective ? Yes

Good value ? Yes, since it truly does its job and a little product goes a long way ($10.51/25g)

Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base -Peach Choux- came as a nice surprise after the whole Mint Choux base fiasco. If you’re looking for a product to give a sophisticated glow to your face while staying away from shimmers and pearly pink, don’t look any further : this Peach Choux base is the right choice for you ! And its sweet peach fragrance is another good reason for you to try it ^^

Next time, I’ll tell you all about the long-awaited Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks !

    • Well, it depends on how tanned you are, I guess, because even if it doesn’t have the “omg, a zombie !” effect of the Mint Choux, it’s still a bit pale. But if you use a foundation or a BB cream that suits your tanned skin, I think it’s gonna be fine 🙂 Be careful if you use a BB cream though : since the base creates a layer between the skin and the BB cream, the BB cream doesn’t oxidize well (or at all, depending on the BB). So you should choose a shade of BB that matches your skin tone from the start, not only after oxidizing 😉

I have combination skin and it didn’t make my T-zone shiny. Actually, it was only a bit oily after quite a while. So I guess it works for oily skins too 🙂

    • Thank you very much, I’m glad you like them ! Somehow, cosmetics brands (not only Korean) are like men : they promise you the moon but not all of them keep their word 😉

Thank you, I’m happy you find my review interesting 🙂
