Celebrate Halloween With The Spookiest Korean Cosmetics !

Published October 31, 2015 by Beauty-full Dreams

Korean cosmetics are well-known for their cute & innovative concepts. Good news for the fright lovers out there : Korean brands are just as creative when it comes to give you chills with scary packagings and horror-themed items 😉

So grab your broom and your favorite black cat and follow me through the Dark Side of Korean beauty !

“Welcome To My Nightmare”

Skulls, coffins, giant spiders, weird bats, pentacles, black magic, witchcraft… you name it, Kcosme deliver 😀 Today’s main provider is Baviphat‘s sister brand Urban Dollkiss with its Tattoo Days & Black Devil lines :

Let’s not forget Etude House’s Halloween Collection, Witch And The City, which you can admire in all its glory in my previous post 😉

“Dead Rising”

Fans of zombie movies rejoice : you too can look like your favorite undead characters, thanks to Tony Moly and Tosowoong 😀

By the way, those who’ve been following me for a while might remember that Skin1004 Zombie Pack was the first of this kind 😉

“If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)”

Like I mentioned last January in my A Year In Kbeauty : The 5 Weirdest Concepts Of 2014 post, Holika Holika purposely designed this Pro-Beauty Bloody Oil Tint to give you vampire lips ^^

Ever dreamt of recreating the shower scene of “Psychose” in your own bathroom ? Want to scare the Hell out of your roommate ? Well, Tony Moly made your wish come true ! This twisted shower gel packed as a blood pouch won’t go unnoticed and the scented gel will leave red prints on whatever you touch. Perfect for wannabe horror movie directors on a budget 😉

“Vampire, Vous Avez Dit Vampire ?”

LadyKin gives you the key to eternal youth : turn into a vampire (or should I say Vanpir ?) and absorb Dragon’s Blood ^^

Don’t worry, despite the gorgeous illustration above, Dragon’s Blood is the name of a thick red resin from a tree called croton lechleri, known for its great healing properties 😀 And it’s your skin that’s going to absorb it 😉

How could I talk about vampires without mentioning their infamous kiss ? Thank Too Cool For School for its Vampire Kiss lipstick, your best ally for drop-dead gorgeous lips no man will ever resist 😉

Last but not least, enjoy some creative Halloween looks from famous makeup artist Chosungah‘s 16brand :

Comments are welcome, I don’t bite… well, most of the time v–v

See you next time for the very first Winter Holiday/Christmas Collections !

Gmarket Shipping Cost Mystery Revealed

Published December 20, 2013 by Beauty-full Dreams

And now what you’ve all been waiting for : a post about ordering from Gmarket

Actually, placing an order on Gmarket is pretty easy once you understand their peculiar shipping cost system.

Let’s see how it goes :

Each item sold on Gmarket has an estimated weight determined by the seller him/herself, regardless of its actual weight. You can see it on the product page :

The estimated weight hardly ever match the real weight of the item. Supposedly, the difference between the two corresponds to the packaging of the product. Well, after 2 and a half years of ordering from Gmarket, I can tell you that it’s rarely the case.

So expect your Korean cosmetics to have an estimated weight of 0.2 kg on average, even those that only weigh less than 5 g in real life…

Baviphat eye stick : estimated weight = 0.6 kg, real weight = 9 g, doesn’t come in any kind of packaging…

Why is this shipping cost talk so important, you wonder ? Because when you place an order on Gmarket, you’re paying the shipping cost upfront, before knowing the real final weight of your parcel. For each item put in your shopping cart, the system gives you the total amount of your order, including the shipping cost based on the sum of all estimated weights and your location. And trust me EMS (the only shipping option available) costs go up pretty fast.

Estimated shipping cost at the bottom of the shopping cart

So, is it as unfair as it sounds ? Well, not really. Once Gmarket receive all the items of your order from the sellers, they pack everything in a single parcel and weigh it. If the actual weight is inferior to the estimated weight, they’ll credit the difference in shipping cost to your Gaccount. And if the actual weight is superior to the estimated weight, you’ll have to pay the difference before they send you your order.

Here the estimated weight was higher than the actual weight so 9,000 won were credited back

The good thing is that the money you pay for over-estimated weights isn’t lost, you get it back on your Gaccount. The bad thing is 1/ you have to pay a larger sum of money than necessary when you are placing the order, and 2/ the money isn’t credited on your bank account/paypal account, it’s credited on your Gaccount. You don’t actually get the money back, you can only use it for a future order.

So, my advice would be : always carefully check both the estimated weight & actual weight of what you want to buy and if there’s a big difference, ask yourself if you can afford to pay the extra money upfront.

Hope this helps ^^

My 2013 Korean Cosmetics Wish List – Baviphat & Tony Moly

Published January 13, 2013 by Beauty-full Dreams

Third part of my 2013 wish list 🙂

Sugar Girl Baby Lotion

I’m really interested in these lotions since they work both for the face and the body and each of them have ingredients that are great for the skin (jojoba, evening primrose, chamomile for the white one / camellia, apricot, apple, grape, pomegranate, strawberry, watermelon, peach for the pink one / jojoba, macadamia, allantoin, lecithin for the orange one).

Sugar Girl Jelly Shadow

A couple years ago, pudding-like eye shadow was a big thing in Korea. I already tried and loved Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Shadows and now I want to try the Baviphat ones, which seem much more pigmented. I still regret not getting my hands on Etude House Pudding Dia Eyeshadows in time 😦

Fruit Miracle Apple Tanggle Jelly Mask Sheet

Once again, the jelly + fruit combination sounds good to me 🙂 I actually have the Lemon one but I haven’t tried it yet. There’s also a Peach version, for those interested ^^

Indi Girl Sweet Walnut Body Scrub

I have another body scrub by Baviphat, the Indi Girl Aroma Coffee Body Scrub, that I love (mmm, the heavenly smell of freshly ground coffee beans that fills up the bathroom 🙂 ) so I guess this Sweet Walnut must have a great fragrance too. And it will be much more convenient than dipping your fingers into the Aroma Coffee pot 😉

Fruit Apple Trouble Bye Cleansing Foam

This apple foam would be a perfect addition to my collection of fruity cleansing foams (I already have the Baviphat Natural Pure Facial Foams in Avocado, Peach and Citrus and the Orange, Pomegranate, Banana and Green Grape versions of the It’s Skin Have A… range) !

Lemon D-Tok Body Cleanser / Lemon D-Tok Body Gel

I don’t know if these slimming cleanser and gel are truly effective but products that contain lemon, orange, blueberry, cane sugar, maple sugar, caffeine, chili pepper, seaweeds and menthol can only be good for your skin 🙂

Red Apple Hand Cream

As you know if you read my Korean Cosmetics Advent Calendar, Tony Moly Red Appletox Honey Cream is one of my absolute favourite Korean products, so I can’t help but wanting this lovely Red Apple Hand Cream !

Expert Hydrogel Mask – Gold Peptide

Who wouldn’t want to try a mask made with gold extract ? ^^

Real Homemade Pack – Potato & Cucumber

I know that cucumber can do a lot of good to your skin but this is the first time I see a potato mask 🙂

Delicious Grapefruit Cleansing Oil Gel

I need an oil cleanser to thoroughly get rid of my BB cream so if it also has a wonderful grapefruit fragrance, that’s perfect !

[XMAS -10] Baviphat Juicy Mask Sheets

Published December 15, 2012 by Beauty-full Dreams

Among the huge choice of sheet masks provided by Korean brands, Baviphat Juicy Mask Sheets are my absolute favorites !

Soaked with light-scented essences, they lift the skin visibly while making the complexion much clearer. And they are totally safe to use on the most dry and sensitive skins (trust me, my skin wasn’t in good condition when I tried some of them), which is a big plus.

The line includes 10 different varieties to better match your needs :

Avocado = nutritious & lifting

Olive = nutritious & moisture

Aloe = soothing & moisture

Green Tea = moisture & lifting

Grape = lifting & bright

Peach = vital & lifting

Pomegranate = lifting & bright

Tomato = moisture & bright

Strawberry = pore & trouble

Lemon = sebum & vital

Give them a try, you won’t regret it ! ^^

[XMAS -12] Baviphat Milk Moisture Lip & Eye Remover

Published December 13, 2012 by Beauty-full Dreams

Anyone who tried Korean eye makeup knows that the “waterproof” label on the packaging isn’t misleading. Thus to remove these mascaras, eyeliners and eyeshadows completely, you need a powerful ally :

I’ve already mentioned Baviphat Milk Moisture Lip&Eye Remover a couple of times before but this is truly the best eye makeup remover I’ve ever tried. Not only does it clean every bit of waterproof and glittery makeup but it’s also very gentle on the skin and doesn’t cause any irritation (be careful not to accidently put some in your eyes though, it really stings). And I can’t resist its sweet milk and baby powder smell ^-^
