Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks Review

Published March 1, 2013 by Beauty-full Dreams

Finally, it’s time for the Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks¬†review ! So, grab a (soft) drink, sit back, relax and enjoy these yummy little treats made in¬†Korea ūüôā

ehcandysticks.jpg

Let’s be honest, a big part of the Sweet Recipe line success lies in¬†its highly attractive packagings, and these Candy Sticks are no exception. They truly look like a colorful spring version of the famous Christmas candy canes and that was enough for me to¬†buy them ūüôā

Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks come in 3 different colors :

ehcandystickslemon.jpg

Lemon Candy,

ehcandysticksorange.jpg

Orange Candy

ehcandysticksstrawberry.jpg

and Strawberry Candy.

As you can see, the curvy part comes off to reveal a matching¬†tube that comes out thanks to a twist-up base. What you don’t see though is that these lovely Candy Sticks are no ordinary¬†lipstick, lip gloss or lip balm but a tint gloss ūüôā¬†And a color-changing one, to boot !

Here’s what the colors look like on the back of my hand :

ehcandylemonswatches.jpg

Lemon Candy : 1, 2 & 3 swipes

ehcandyorangeswatches.jpg

Orange Candy : 1, 2 & 3 swipes

ehcandystrawberryswatches.jpg

Strawberry Candy : 1, 2 & 3 swipes

ehcandysticksswatches.jpg

The 3 colors swatched together : top left = Lemon Candy, bottom left = Orange Candy and right = Strawberry Candy

But color-changing products adapt their shades according to the pH of the skin, so the results are a bit different on the lips. Take a look at these pics :

(left = 1 swipe, right = 2 swipes)

Strawberry Candy

These Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks are really easy to apply¬†since they glide perfectly on your lips. One major plus is that they’re not sticky.¬†As you can see on the photos above, they turn into beautiful colors that show nicely without being too obvious. And each candy cane has¬†a wonderful smell of lemon, orange or strawberry hard candies ūüôā They even get a matching taste, in case you lick your lips accidently ūüėČ

Sweet Talk :

Etude House promises us a “lasting, vibrant” tint gloss¬†that “instantly turns into a lovely color” and that makes your lips “smoother and more resilient” thanks to its “5 plant extracts (bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange, and lemon)¬†and xylitol”, the xylitol adding a “refreshing feeling”.

The Naked Truth :

Well, lots of things to say about these sweet little sticks. First off, if the colors are indeed lovely, the change is far from being instant : allow a couple of minutes for the actual color to show completely. That’s why you should be very careful when applying them, wait for the full color change of the 1rst swipe before deciding whether to add more. Otherwise, you may end up with a much stronger shade¬†than expected. “Vibrant” ? Not really, as the colors are more on the natural side. “Lasting” ? Depends on your what you’re looking at. The gloss part (which by the way is much glossier on photos than in live, my It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balms are more shiny than these candy canes) rubs off pretty fast, leaving marks on everything that comes in contact with your lips (glasses, food, skin, etc.). On the other hand, the tint part will stay until you remove it, and even a bit after… Because the Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks are a pain to get rid of. Here’s a pic of my hand after using a cotton pad soaked with my beloved Baviphat Milk Moisture Lip&Eye¬†Remover once ¬†:

ehcandysticksremove.jpg

Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks do contain the 5 extracts plus xylitol, as stated. I translated the full composition below :

Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Triethylhexanoin, Diisostearyl maleate, Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides, Glycerol sebacate / isopropyl palmitate, Polybutene, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Ozokerite, Ceresin, Synthetic wax, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Hydrogenated castor oil isostearate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ethylene / propylene copolymers, Xylitol, Bilberry fruit / leaf extract, Sugar cane extract, Lemon extract, Orange extract, Sugar maple extract, Polyethylene, Glyceryl Caprylate, Water, Fragrance, Red 202 (CI 15850:1), Red 218 (CI 45410:1), Yellow 4 (CI 19140)

Still, I’ve never felt the promised “refreshing feeling” of the xylitol. As for the “smoother and more resilient” lips, don’t count on it either : the Candy Sticks aren’t moisturizing so you’re going to end up with a bit dry to very dry lips instead, depending on your initial condition.

Oh, and last minute advice : beware of¬†the twist-up system, even if you use it carefully and never let¬†your Candy Stick¬†fall, it might randomly get stuck and you’ll have to push back the tube yourself. I know, it happened to 2 of my sticks out of 3 !

So, Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks in a nutshell…

Nice Texture ? Yes

Pleasant smell ? Oh yeah !

Easy to use ? Yes

Comfortable ? Not so much if you have dry lips

Effective ? Nope

Long lasting ? Globally, no. But you’ll have a hard time getting rid of the tint…

Nice color ? Yes

Good value ? Yes ($4.27/2g)

Despite their pretty shades and wonderful fruit candy smells, these Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Sticks are quite disappointing. Now if you don’t have dry lips and don’t mind rubbing your lips with point remover until the tint finally goes off completely, you can give them a try. Or if you’re looking for a really cheap alternative to permanent makeup ūüėČ

[XMAS -3] Etude House, Lioele, Peripera Lip Gloss Swatches

Published December 22, 2012 by Beauty-full Dreams

Unlike nail polish, my addiction for lip gloss has never gone down since I was a teenager ūüôā ¬†Each time I see all these gorgeous shades of pink, purple and red sparkling in their cute little tubes, I always feel the urge to buy them ^^ But don’t worry, I’m not a compulsive shopper and I always buy what I can afford, and at bargain price as much as possible ūüėČ That’s why I only own a handful of Korean lip glosses right now :

Lioele Blooming Gloss Lovely Twoway Review

Published May 5, 2012 by Beauty-full Dreams

Hi everyone~ I’m sorry it took me so long but I’m finally back !! Did you miss me ? Just kidding ūüôā

In order to celebrate my come-back, I’m going to introduce one of my beloved Lioele products : the¬†Lioele Blooming Gloss Lovely Twoway (yes, in one word).¬†Even though¬†there’s a handful¬†of beauty products¬†I like to collect (cleansing foam, sheet mask, shower gel, nail polish… ), lip gloss has always been my absolute favorite. I¬†can’t resist¬†all these¬†different¬†shades and hues sparkling away in their cute packagings ^^ And Lioele Blooming Gloss is just too pretty to be ignored :

Take a¬†look at its princessy silver and hot pink¬†box, don’t you want to grab it already ? But wait, because the best is yet to come…

As you can see from the photo, Lioele Blooming Gloss Lovely Twoway is made of two different shades of pink : the bottom one is a regular hot pink while the top one is a highly shiny baby pink. So when you use this gloss, the applicator takes both layers with him and combine them on your lips.

(taken without flash)

Sweet Talk

“Contains organic copolymer resin that snugly adheres to the lips that allows subtle and luxurious color to last all day long. The Lip-PZ wax glides on in a thick layer to give full volume. Spherical silica microsome lets lip color seem natural and smooth.

Plant lanolin, shea butter and olive derivatives manage chapped lips by providing moisture so the lips are healthier and livelier.

Gives moist and glossy glitter from the moment of application to show off the attractive lips without any stickiness. Subtle pearl enhances the luxurious lips at any angle.” (Taken from Pretty&Cute website)

The Naked Truth

Lioele Blooming Gloss easily glides on the lips due to its¬†great texture¬†(not too thick but not runny either)¬†and one swipe on each lip is enough to show its gorgeous¬†shiny pink color. Of course, you can always add¬†extra layers for a more dramatic effect. It really makes your lips look plump and smooth and does a great job moisturizing them… as long as it lasts. Don’t expect this Blooming Gloss to stay all day long, it will wear off within 2 hours-2 hours and a half. After that, only the many tiny glitters will remain. And I’m not sure it will be hydrating enough for chapped lips without applying a balm underneath.

But, aside from its pretty shade,¬†the biggest asset of the Lioele Blooming Gloss is how wonderful it feels on your lips. This is the most confortable gloss I’ve ever had to wear (and trust me, I tried loads of them) : you don’t feel it at all, it’s absolutely not sticky and, as I said above, it keeps your lips from drying. Oh and let’s not forget¬†its highly addictive¬†fruit & candy smell¬†!

So, Lioele Blooming Gloss Lovely Twoway in a nutshell…

Nice Texture ? The best !

Pleasant smell ? Yes !!

Easy to use ? Yes

Effective ? Yes

Long lasting ? No

Nice color ? Yes !

Good value ? Yes  ($12 / 4ml)

If you don’t mind reapplying lip gloss or if you plan on using it for special occasions, Lioele Blooming Gloss is the perfect choice for you. Non-sticky, confortable, shiny, moisturizing, with a gorgeous color and a lovely smell, this gloss is still a hit despite its short lasting power. Lioele Blooming Gloss comes in 10 different shades (Orange Sherbet, Flower Pink, Cherry Red, Cream Orange, Vanilla Pink, Baby Pink, Gold Beige, Latte Brown, Shining Purple) and one of them will soon¬†become your new favorite gloss !
